Man in hospital with 'serious facial wound' after alleged cleaver attack

A man is in hospital with a wound to his face after he was allegedly hit with a meat cleaver overnight in Ballarat, Victoria.

The 31-year-old Golden Point man was allegedly attacked by two males on Little Bridge St just before 8pm.

He was taken to hospital with a suspected serious facial injury.

Two males were arrested a short distance away.

A 30-year-old Ballarat East man was charged with a number of offences including intentionally cause injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, affray and assault with weapon.

He will appear at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court today.

A 16-year-old Ballarat East boy was charged with affray, assault with weapon and possess controlled weapon.

He was bailed to appear at a court at a later date.
