A major police incident is unfolding on the Monash Freeway in Melbourne.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed to 9News officers were near the Eastlink interchange at the Monash Freeway on-ramp responding to an incident.
"There is no ongoing threat to the community," she said.
All citybound lanes of the freeway have closed, with the Department of Transport urging motorists to exit the inbound lanes when possible.
"The scene is under the control of Victoria Police," the Department of Transport statement read.
"The Monash Freeway will open as soon as it is safe to do so."
