A teenage P-plate driver has been fined after he was allegedly caught hitting 159km/h in a 100km/h zone on the New South Wales North Coast.
Police stopped a Holden Astra yesterday afternoon after the car was allegedly detected travelling 45km/h over the limit on the Pacific Highway, about 20 kilometres north of Port Macquarie.
After speaking with the 18-year-old male provisional driver from West Kempsey, officers issued him an infringement notice.
The offence carries a penalty of $2547 and six demerit points.
The car's number plates were confiscated for three months and the teenager's driving licence was suspended on the spot for six months.
