Victoria continues streak of zero new local cases of COVID-19

Victoria has continued its streak of recording no new local cases of coronavirus for the eighth day in a row as the state eases restrictions tonight.

More than 27,000 people came forward for testing yesterday and the state's active cases have dropped to 21.

From 11.59pm tonight, masks will no longer be required at schools for students and staff or at workplaces that do not interact with the public. But they still must be worn indoors.

Capacity limits will also expand at a range of venues, including hospitality, gyms, physical recreation venues, community facilities, creative studios and places of worship - so long as there's a COVID check-in marshal is present.

Dance floors will also return to a 50-person limit and crowd numbers will expand at events including footy matches and theatre shows.

The gathering limits however remain unchanged, with only 15 visitors permitted to homes for the time being.

Health Minister Martin Foley yesterday said the settings would remain in place for the next 14 days.
