Face masks will now be mandatory in shopping centres and in other indoor settings across seven local government areas as the Bondi cluster swells to nine cases.
Residents in Randwick, Bayside, Botany Bay, Inner West, City of Sydney, Waverley and Woollahra will now have to wear masks while in places like supermarkets and retail stores.
"That will include things like hospitality workers, shopping, retail shopping, any interactivity where you aren't eating or drinking, will need to wear a mask," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

"That will apply effective immediately, but compliance from 4pm.
"We want people to start doing that from now. That will be the same period as compulsory public transport mask wearing, until Wednesday midnight that is what we will ask people to do."
Compulsory mask wearing has also been extended from the Greater Sydney area to now include everyone in the Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas, in light of several recent new cases having been detected there.
"Even though they are directly linked to the eastern suburbs cases, we are concerned there may have been spread in the community," Ms Berejiklian said.

"It is important for all of us to be on high alert, no matter where we live," Ms Berejiklian said.
"At this stage, we didn't want to make the decision to have compulsory mask wearing across all Greater Sydney but if the situation changes overnight, that is an option we will have to consider."
NSW recorded two locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, one of which was announced yesterday morning.
NSW Health has also been notified of two new locally acquired cases overnight which will be included in tomorrow's numbers.
