The man who allegedly assaulted a Channel Nine security guard has been charged with a string of offences.
Police arrested Thomas Sewell yesterday, the leader of the National Socialist Network, after he allegedly punched the security guard multiple times outside the Melbourne headquarters of the television network in Docklands on Monday.
The alleged assault was captured on video by Mr Sewell's unknown associate and later posted online.
Counter terrorism command detectives conducted interviews with a 27-year-old Rowville man over the alleged assault as well as a 21-year-old Rowville man.
Mr Sewell, from Rowville, was arrested last night by police and charged with affray, recklessly cause injury and unlawful assault.
He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on July 27.
The 21-year-old man was released pending further enquiries.
Mr Sewell's arrest comes after he spoke out about the alleged attack earlier in the day, claiming he had "nothing to hide" and used "lawful force" when he allegedly bashed the guard in the head and held him to the ground.
The alleged assault, along with an alleged racial slur targeting the security guard, occurred after Mr Sewell and his associate were asked to leave the Channel Nine building.
Mr Sewell and his associate arrived at the television network's Melbourne headquarters in an attempt to speak to A Current Affair staff just hours before an investigation into his group, the National Socialist Network, went to air.
The white supremacist told A Current Affair he would "happily speak to police" and "truth fears no investigation".
The security guard is recovering at home after being released from hospital.
