Police investigate Hamzy prison stabbing

Police are investigating whether a jail stabbing between two members of the deadly Brothers For Life gang is linked to the execution of Mejid Hamzy outside his Condell Park home.

Vision of the violent outbreak inside John Morony Correctional Centre at Windsor has emerged, allegedly showing an inmate attack Mohammed "Little Crazy" Hamzy, a cousin of Mejid and notorious criminal Bassam Hamzy.

CCTV from inside the jail allegedly shows Mouhammed Houri lunge at Mohammed Hamzy, stabbing him three times with a metal shiv.

Police are bracing for a bloody gangland war after Mejid's shooting death last Monday.

A prison officer throws himself between the pair but is wedged in the middle as Hamzy fights back, swinging several punches at Houri.

As officers drag Houri back, Hamzy appears to grin as he walks backwards and raises his middle finger in the direction of the man who was once a member of the same Blacktown chapter.

Sources have told 9News they are not ruling out anything and are investigating a number of motives including whether Mejid was killed following a drug turf war; a fight between a rival crime family or whether this is an internal gang war.

The jail stabbing is the latest bloody chapter in the Hamzy family history book.

Brothers for Life Founder Bassam Hamzy is serving time for murder at Goulburn's Supermax jail, while Mohammed is in custody after being found guilty of the manslaughter of another gang member shot dead at Greenacre in 2012.

Mohammed Hamzy is lucky to be alive after being the intended target of a hit at Revesby in October 2013 but in a case of mistaken identity his cousin Mahmoud Hamzy was shot dead.

Aunt Maha Hamzy has escaped death too, after she was shot in the legs inside her Auburn home in 2013. The same townhouse was a target of a drive by shooting last Saturday night.

NSW Police Criminal Groups squad is leading the investigation into Mejid's murder and believe his execution was carried out by two professional killers who lay in wait outside of his home.

They are now reviewing CCTV and the route the killers took after torching a getaway car in nearby Yagoona.
