NSW residents have been told not to visit Victoria amid a spike in coronavirus cases, and to take the increase as a warning.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant this morning urged people not to become complacent and to keep getting tested.
It comes as the death toll in NSW rises to 51, after an 85-year-old man who died during a small outbreak at a Sydney aged care facility was reclassified as a coronavirus death.
"My message to NSW residents is don't visit Victoria. Don't particularly visit the Melbourne hot spots," Mr Hazzard said today.
"Indeed, if you don't have to go to Melbourne, don't go to Melbourne."
If a visit to Victoria is essential, Mr Hazzard urged those returning to take precautionary steps.
Dr Kerry Chant echoed the warning, saying anyone returning from Victoria, in particular the hotspots around Melbourne, should take extra precautions.
She said people are required to monitor closely for symptoms, must not visit any aged care facilities, and to get tested at the slightest sign of illness.
Four new cases overnight
NSW has recorded four new cases of coronavirus overnight, three of which are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.
The fourth is a seven-year-old student from Lane Cove West Public School.
Mr Hazzard said the child's symptoms came on during the weekend.
The school has been deep cleaned and contract tracing is underway.
Mr Hazzard said since the case was detected in Lane Cove a new testing clinic has been set up at Royal North Shore Hospital.

"This is no time for NSW residents to be complacent or cocky," Mr Hazzard warned this morning.
"Whilst on the face of it we have a relatively low case of transmission… (we) remain concerned there is active transmission in the NSW community, particularly here in Sydney.
"We are hopeful that the community will take this request from us seriously."
One new death in NSW
An 85-year-old man from the Opal Aged Care facility in Bankstown died during a small outbreak at the nursing home in April, Dr Chant said today.
The death toll from coronavirus in NSW is now 51 and 104 nationally.
