He's making a list, he's checking it twice, and now, he's packing heat.
El Paso Sheriff's Office in Colorado, in the US, sparked angry comments online after posting a tweet showing a man dressed as Santa Claus applying for a gun permit.
"Guess who came in to receive his Concealed Handgun Permit today?" the tweet read, alongside a Santa emoji.

"Did you know the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has issued 49,750 Concealed Handgun Permits with another 2560 awaiting to be issued?"
The tweet was thought by some to be in poor taste, after recent school shootings in the US.
"I'm sitting here in downtown Oxford, MI, waiting for the candlelight vigil to start to pay tribute to four students who were murdered by a handgun smuggled into the school," one man wrote.

The sheriff's office has left the post up, but added a clarifying comment.
"EPSO intended to highlight our staff in the Concealed Handgun Permit Office, not to be insensitive," the tweet read.

"Santa correlates to the month of December and we thought he would help to recognise our hard working staff."
Gun rights remain a flashpoint topic in an increasingly partisan US.
Ethan Crumbley, the 15-year-old accused of last week's school shooting in Michigan, allegedly carried out the attack with a gun his parents bought for him as a present, prosecutors have said.
