Search after three people left Howard Springs quarantine facility

Northern Territory police are looking for three people who escaped the Centre for National Resilience at Howard Springs in Darwin this morning.

Officers received reports that three people allegedly "scaled the fence" of the quarantine centre and "fled the area" at 4.40am.

"Police and staff at the Centre for National Resilience are currently confirming the absconder's identities prior to releasing further information," NT Police said in a statement.

9News Darwin senior reporter Tahlia Sarv said police checkpoints have been established around Howard Springs.

Officers are checking vehicle registration numbers and inside the boots of cars, as they work to track down the escapees.

Drivers are asked to slow down and follow all member directions.
