Two men arrested over murder of Mejid Hamzy

Police have arrested two men over the murder of Mejid Hamzy, who was gunned down outside his Sydney home last October.

NSW Police say a 38-year-old man is expected to be charged with murder, while a 44-year-old man is expected to be charged in relation to the concealment of a vehicle allegedly used in the incident.

Mr Hamzy was the older brother of crime gang Brothers 4 Life founder and convicted killer Bassam Hamzy, who is currently jailed in Goulburn's supermax prison.

Mr Hamzy was gunned down outside his home on Simmat Avenue in Condell Park.

Earlier this month, police investigating the murder released CCTV footage of cars driving through Sydney's west as part of a public appeal.

It showed a Toyota and Mercedes, as well as footage of a third vehicle of interest – a white BMW 328i.

Bassam Hamzy, the founder of Brothers 4 Life, was jailed for life in 2002 for a shooting murder at a Sydney nightclub in 1998, and was also convicted for conspiring to murder a witness due to give evidence against him.

Police believe the three vehicles in the footage travelled from Moorebank to Condell Park prior to and after the shooting.

In March this year, detectives released CCTV of two vehicles of interest – a grey Toyota Rav 4 and a matte black Mercedes Benz.

More to come.
