One new local COVID-19 case found in Victoria

Victoria has recorded one new local case of COVID-19 as the state remains on high alert after multiple incursions of the virus from New South Wales.

The Department of Health confirmed the new case was a primary close contact in isolation during their infectious period.

It comes as three cases of COVID-19 were detected in family members yesterday who returned from Sydney on a red zone permit.

Health officials have warned the fourth family member may also test positive in the coming days. It is yet to be confirmed if today's new case is the family member.

The family of four had been undertaking 14 days of quarantine inside their home in the City of Hume.

However, the family broke quarantine requirements, visiting a petrol station and a Coles supermarket in Melbourne's north on July 10 and 11, causing them to turn into exposure sites.

New exposure sites have also surfaced in the state after two COVID-positive removalists drove from Sydney to Melbourne on July 8 while infectious.

The Caltex service station and Hungry Jack's exposure sites are believed to be linked to the removalists, who seemingly stopped to get petrol, use the toilets and get food along the Hume Highway pit-stop in Kalkallo.

The sites have been classed as Tier One exposure sites between 9.07am and 10.06am, requiring anyone who attended to get tested and quarantine for 14 days.

The removalists then delivered furniture to a four-person household in Craigieburn, before visiting a household of four in Maribyrnong later that day.

The families linked to the workers have been ordered to isolate and up to 200 residents in Ariele Apartments in Maribyrnong remain in lockdown.

An anxious wait continues as health authorities wait to see if the virus has spread inside the apartment complex.

Anyone who visited the apartment block from 1pm on July 8 must quarantine for the full 14 days, while anyone who attended from July 9 until July 12 must get tested.

Testing chief, Jeroen Weimar at the COVID-19 daily press conference

"I should stress at this point, we have no positive tests," Victoria's COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said.

"The tests for us over the next few days will be important."

The removalists then attended Mobil Ballan petrol station and McDonald's Ballan on July 8 between 5pm and 7pm, before driving to Adelaide.
