A man and a woman have died and a 14-year-old boy is fighting for life after a horror crash about 250km north of Adelaide.
Emergency services were called to the Augusta Highway at Baroota, roughly 50km from Port Augusta, about 3.40pm on Wednesday after a Holden ute crashed into a tree.
The 40-year-old male driver and 61-year-old female front passenger, both from Whyalla Norrie on the other side of the Spencer Gulf, died at the scene.
Two children in the car, from neighbouring Whyalla Playford, aged 14 and 11, were both rushed to hospital.
Police said the 14-year-old boy was in a critical condition and the 11-year-old boy was in a stable condition.
Road restrictions were expected to remain in place overnight.
The crash brings the state's road toll to 60, five more than this time last year.
