Sydney pizza restaurant and Wollongong bakery added to COVID alert list

An inner-west pizza restaurant and a Wollongong bakery have been flagged as exposure sites as New South Wales health authorities urge people in the state's west to be vigilant following detection of the coronavirus in sewage.

Mancini's Original Woodfired Pizza in Belfield, GoVita in Engadine and the Gwynneville Bakery were all added to the state's exposure list overnight as close-contact venues.

The sewage detection came more than 200km to the north-west in Molong, in an area serving about 1700 people.

NSW Health said one person in the area had tested positive but didn't live in the sewage catchment area.

"NSW Health is concerned that the detection could signal undetected cases in the community and asks people in these areas to be alert for any symptoms that could signal COVID 19, including sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever or headache," the department said, in a statement.

"If symptoms appear, please isolate and get tested immediately, and remain isolated until a negative result is received."
