New TV ad urges people in Sydney to stay at home

NSW Health has released a new prime time television ad in Sydney, urging people to stay at home amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Dr Kerry Chant, the state's chief health officer, who appears at NSW's daily press conferences with Gladys Berejiklian, fronts the new ad.

"Please, stay home," she says.

"And only leave the house for the most essential of reasons.

"Do not have visitors to your home, including family members."

It comes just days after the Federal Government released a graphic ad of a woman struggling to breathe, urging people to get tested and vaccinated.

The shocking ad was "absolutely" warranted for viewers in Sydney, Commander of the Vaccine Taskforce Lieutenant General John Frewen said.

"We didn't use it lightly," Mr Frewen said on Today earlier this week.
