New exposure sites as SA wakes to lockdown

South Australian health authorities have updated their list of exposure sites as the state records one new locally-acquired case of COVID-19.

The new case is linked to The Greek restaurant on Halifax, the chief health officer has confirmed, as fears grow about a potential super spreader event.

Health authorities are urgently trying to contact anyone who may have visited The Greek restaurant on Halifax, with six cases now linked to the venue.

Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier yesterday said the restaurant had the potential to trigger more cases.

"My understanding is there was a birthday function - it was a private function room, and this gentleman was in the same private function area as one of our cases," Professor Spurrier said.

"The particular site is a restaurant, people tend to speak loudly in restaurants, there might have even been some singing there if it was a birthday party.

"It's not usually a well-ventilated area, so I want to get the message out — if anyone has been to The Greek on Halifax, they need to get into quarantine and get themselves tested."

Anyone who visited the restaurant on Saturday, July 17 between 6pm and 10pm must get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days regardless of a negative test result.

A series of supermarkets and major shopping centres have also been put on alert, including the St Agnes Shopping Centre, Pelican Plaza, Munno Para Shopping Centre, Greenacres Shopping Centre and the Golden Grove Village Shopping Centre.
