Red wine recalled from shelves amid glass fragment concerns

A popular red wine has been recalled from liquor outlet shelves in four Australian states following fears the bottles may contain fragments of glass.

NSW Food Authority yesterday advised Zilzie Wines is conducting a recall of Meraki Shiraz 2020 Vintage (750ml) due to a packaging fault.

The red wine is available for sale in Liquor Stax outlets, which are a collective of independent outlets in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.

"The recall is due to the presence of foreign matter (glass) from a packaging fault," the warning stated.

"Food products containing glass may cause injury if consumed."

The recall relates to wines with the lot number L20259.

Consumers have been urged to refrain from drinking the wine and return the product for a full refund.

People should call Zilzie Wines on 1800 718 500 for more information.
