A man driving a 'homemade' convertible with an expired license and on bail has been arrested after shouting abuse at police in Adelaide.
Police were patrolling Jetty Road in Glenelg when a white car drove past just before 1am this morning.
The occupants yelled at the patrol, then sped off and ran a red light - right in front of the officers.
The car was then pulled over on Douglas Grove, Glenelg North.
SA Police said closer inspection of the Hyundai Excel revealed it was a standard sedan - but the owner had cut the roof off to make it into a convertible.
Police checks also revealed the driver's licence had been expired for six years and he was currently on bail not to drive.
It also had considerable crash damage to the rear of the car.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 13.
The car was defected and towed from the scene.
