Woman killed after car collides with bus in Parramatta

A woman has been killed after a car collided with a bus in Parramatta's CBD this morning.

The car collided with a bus just after 8am on Argyle Street, near the intersection with O'Connell Street.

The woman in her 40s was in the passenger seat and died at the scene following the crash.

The damage to the sedan was so significant that she could not be freed from the wreckage.

The driver – a man also aged in his 40s – was taken to Westmead Hospital with minor injuries and for mandatory testing.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

Argyle Street is closed between O'Connell and Pitt streets and drivers are encouraged to avoid the area as traffic is expected to be disrupted for some time.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) and Parramatta PAC are investigating the crash.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam vision, to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
