No local cases in WA, disaster council meeting about restrictions

Western Australia's state disaster council will meet today to decide whether to ease coronavirus restrictions at the weekend as planned.

There were no new local COVID-19 cases but four recorded in hotel quarantine in WA today, all originating from India.

State Premier Mark McGowan is expected to make an announcement this evening after the meeting on whether rules will be relaxed on Saturday.

Currently, the Perth and Peel regions are in a "transition period" after a three-day snap lockdown last weekend.

Residents are required to wear face masks when leaving the house, work from home if they can and there is a venue limit of 20 people.

There are also no visitors to hospitals or residential aged care and/or disability facilities, but schools and most other businesses are open.

There is a 100 person cap on weddings and funerals and masks must be worn.
