Authorities in Queensland are appealing to the public to track down loved ones who erected a roadside memorial in Queensland's Moreton Bay Region.
The white wooden cross with the name "Rachel Rose Crane" was located at Six Mile Creek in Elimbah.
Due to planned construction of the Bruce Highway upgrade, Ms Crane's memorial had to be taken down and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads has been unable to track down a next of kin to advise them.
Queensland Police have confirmed to the department that Ms Crane was originally from the Atherton region of Far North Queensland, but authorities are still unable to find her family to let them know.
The department has posted photos on their Facebook page and are hoping someone will come forward with a way of reaching Ms Crane's family to let them know of the change.
"We haven't been able to reach Rachel's next of kin so we've removed the memorial for now and we'll keep it safe in storage in the hope that whoever placed it there will get in touch," the department posted on their Facebook page.
"We really hope it sparks a memory in someone that leads to locating the person who laid it here by the roadside."
If you know Ms Crane's family, you can contact the project team on 1800 430 800 or email them on brucehwyc2siw@tmr.qld.gov.au with the subject line "Six Mile Creek memorial".
