Three men armed with machetes force entry into Melbourne home

Three intruders armed with machetes have raided a home in Melbourne's south-east overnight, stealing two luxury cars.

Police were told the three men broke into the Frankston South property on Kirby Court by forcing the rear doors open just after midnight.

The men wore face coverings and were armed with machetes, or a similar weapon, as they stormed their way through the home, demanding the family hand over their personal items, including phones, iPads and keys to their cars.

The man who lived at the home was threatened during the home invasion, but not physically harmed.

The woman, who was hiding in an upstairs cupboard, raised the alarm and called police.

"The trio, described as two men of African appearance and one-man Caucasian in appearance, left the home and made off with the victims' two cars, a white Jeep Cherokee and white BMW X5," Victoria Police Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
