The inaugural quarantine-free flight from New Zealand to Queensland will touch down later this morning carrying the first international travellers into the state in nearly a year.
Passengers will need to complete a declaration form on arrival stating they have been in New Zealand for the preceding 14 days, where community transmission of coronavirus has been eliminated.
Those on board the flight from Auckland to Brisbane will not have to undergo hotel quarantine, as Queensland lifts its border to New Zealand.
Air New Zealand flight NZ147 will arrive at Brisbane International Airport at 8.30am local time.
The airline will operate five return flights a week between Auckland and Brisbane, with three of those being quarantine-free services. The other two will be quarantine flights.
But New Zealanders will be forced into hotel quarantine when they return home and will have to pay for the service.
The last local case of community transmission in New Zealand was recorded on November 18.
In December, Queensland celebrated 100 days with no new COVID-19 cases.
