Retrial date set for Jack de Belin and Callan Sinclair

Jack de Belin and Callan Sinclair will face a re-trial over sexual assault allegations in Sydney next April.

It comes after a jury was discharged it was unable to reach a verdict in the case.

After two days of deliberations, the jury told the court "the divide … has remained consistent and is unlikely to change".

Outside court on Monday, de Belin's lawyer said, "of course he is disappointed", while Sinclair's legal team said they were more determined than ever to beat the charges.

It has been nearly two years since de Belin and Sinclair encountered the then 19-year-old woman on the dance floor at a Wollongong night spot during the annual Santa pub crawl.

De Belin was the first person stood down under the NRL's no fault stand down rule, and his future with the NRL still hangs in the balance.
