One moment four young children were on a happy mission to buy ice-creams on a warm Sydney summer evening.
The next instant, they'd been tragically killed, run over by a man drunk and on drugs and speeding recklessly in his Mitsubishi four-wheel-drive.
It has now been 10 heartbreaking months since Abdallah siblings, Sienna, 8, Angelina, 12, and Antony, 13, and their cousin Veronique Sakr, 11, died on that footpath in Oatlands, in Sydney's northwest.
Bridget Sakr, Veronique's mother, is braced for the first Christmas without her daughter.
Speaking to Deborah Knight on 2GB, Ms Sakr opened up about "the pain that's in the heart, constantly the heavy chest."

Ms Sakr's revealed her Catholic upbringing was central in her finding forgiveness for the man who had senselessly killed her "wonderful" daughter in February.
"She was quirky and funny ... she wasn't into material things, she was just into people and food and being with our friends and just enjoying life," she said.
"I was always raised to know that in life it is about being kind and forgiving and caring and serving."
Veronique's brother Michael was dealing with "the triple T", Ms Sakr said, "being a teenager, having to face a tragedy and be traumatised by it."
Ms Sakr now acts as an ambassador for the charity, Feel The Magic, which helps other families manage unimaginable loss and grief.
"If I can help others that are feeling what I'm feeling ... that will give me the strength to keep going and to make this tragedy have some greater purpose."
Samuel William Davidson, 29, had been drinking since the morning when he hit the four innocent youngsters in the evening.
A report found he was travelling up to 133km/h in a 50km/h zone and was moving about 111km/h at the time of impact.
In October he pleaded guilty to four counts of manslaughter, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle, and a single count of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm while under the influence of a drug.
He will be sentenced in March next year.
