A Chipotle franchise in New York City has closed its doors after employees were forced to chase and kill rats found in the restaurant.
An employee union representing those who worked there say the parent company ignored the infestation for "weeks" before finally shutting the outlet for deep cleaning last month.
Former employees of the store said they were forced to catch and kill the rodents while the restaurant continued to serve customers.

Melvin Paulino, an employee of the store, told The New York Post he was bitten while he was cleaning.
"We're all scared, it's pretty common that some of my co-workers will just start screaming out of the blue and we don't know what's happening," Mr Paulino said.
"It's pure chaos every time a rat appears."
The infestation was discovered after workers kept finding avocados with "little nibbles" in them.

In a statement, Chipotle said the pest problem affected the area, and not just the store.
"The Columbia Presbyterian restaurant located at 4009 Broadway in New York has been mainly closed since November 23rd due to a pest problem affecting the immediate area," a spokesperson for the chain said.
"During this time, we have arranged an emergency pest service and deep cleaning and are working with the landlord directly to ensure location improvements are met before reopening."
