The COVID-19 fine handed to former NSW Arts Minister Don Harwin has been sensationally withdrawn.
A member of the DPP appeared via video link in Gosford Local Court this morning asking the public health order breach be dropped.
"It's withdrawn and dismissed," Magistrate Peter Barnett said.
There was no explanation in court for the decision, three months after Mr Harwin was fined $1000 for travelling from Sydney to his holiday home at Pearl Beach on the NSW Central Coast.
He resigned as Arts Minister a short time later, but maintained he was not in breach of the rules.
It's understood the decision today could pave the way for his return to cabinet.
