Residents of any of the six Victorian coronavirus hotspot councils have been told they will not be allowed to stay at some coastal caravan parks in the state until the Victorian government 'advises community transmission is under control'.
The Foreshore Caravan Park chain has cancelled all bookings from guests living in Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin.
The company runs parks in the popular tourist areas of Lorne, Torquay and Anglesea.
The decision will leave those with holidays planned at the parks without a chance to visit the accommodation.
"This will apply to all bookings up until Monday July 13 and include Twelve Month Permit Holders," the caravan parks said on their websites.
"We will not be lifting these restrictions until the Victorian Government advises that community transmission in these areas is under control."
Affected site owners have been upset by the decision.
Gary, who owns a site at Anglesea, told Radio 3AW he was furious.
"I pay nearly $7000 a year and can't get down there," he said.
"I am absolutely fuming about this."
The parks said they made the call to protect the health and safety of staff and visitors and will be contacting guests with cancelled bookings in the coming days.
The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee on Sunday urged residents in these hotspots not to leave their suburbs until community transmission is curbed.
