Man bitten by shark off Queensland coast

A man has been taken to hospital after being bitten by a shark off the coast of Far North Queensland, health authorities say.

The 24-year-old was diving at Yarrahbah, near Cairns.

The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service said the man was in a stable condition in Cairns Hospital after being bitten by a shark but couldn't confirm any more details.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said it received a call at 9.24am reporting a diver had been bitten by something but didn't attend.

The man was taken to hospital privately, QAS said.
