The Western Australia government has dismissed suggestions the border could reopen sooner than expected, which would allow interstate fans to attend the Ashes cricket test in January.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt drew the ire of the McGowan-led government over the weekend by suggesting WA could be quietly planning to open its borders early.
WA is expected to hit its 90 per cent fully vaccinated target by January 12.

With the Ashes test to start two days later, on January 14, Mr Hunt suggested WA was leaning towards relaxing its borders ahead of the fifth and final test.
But Premier McGowan has flat out rejected those claims, accusing the federal health minister of spreading misinformation.
Mr McGowan instead reiterated a decision on the borders will be made in early December, once 80 per cent of WA eligible residents have been fully vaccinated.
The premier is standing by his decision to allow cricketers to isolate for just five days instead of 14, as is mandated for everyone else.
