Two states hit new major vaccination milestones

Three-quarters of eligible Western Australians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the state becoming the country's last jurisdiction to pass the 75 per cent milestone.

While WA has given 75.1 per cent of residents a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Saturday, over 85 per cent have had a single jab.

However, the state still lags behind the rest of the country, with the lowest immunisation rate in Australia. Queensland has 75.7 per cent of its population double-jabbed, and the Northern Territory is sightly ahead again with 75.9 per cent.

Across Australia, 86.6 per cent of people aged 16 and over are double vaccinated.

The ACT is in the lead with more than 95 per cent fully vaccinated.

Close behind is NSW at 92.4 per cent.
