Queensland Premier to make announcement on home quarantine today

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is set to make an announcement as to when people can fly into home quarantine today after the state reached its 70 per cent vaccination milestone.

Travellers are expected to be permitted entry into Queensland by plane as soon as tomorrow, but the border pass system is not yet up and running.

The state reached its 70 per cent vaccination milestone sooner than expected yesterday, triggering a small easing of border restrictions.

People from interstate hotspots will be permitted to fly into Queensland, however they must adhere to the government's strict criteria in order to gain entry.

Travellers must be double vaccinated, return a negative test result in the past 72 hours, fly into the state and undertake 14 days of quarantine inside a home no further than a two-hour drive from the airport.

Other residents inside the home also must isolate if a traveller from a hotspot is undertaking quarantine at the location.

There are 14,000 people currently attempting to gain entry into Queensland, which includes a mix of Queenslanders trying to return home and those wanting to relocate.

Queensland's road border is not set to reopen until December 17 - the date when fully vaccinated Australians will be welcome back into Queensland - when the state hits its 80 per cent vaccination milestone.

Health Minister Yvette D'Ath yesterday said exact details relating to the timing on the state's border reopening would be announced today.

"Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP will outline what hitting the 70 per cent double dosed mark means for Queenslanders," Ms D'Ath said in a Facebook post.
