A man has died and a woman has been rescued after a boat overturned in rapids on the Yarra River in Melbourne.
The pair got in trouble on the water while canoeing at Dights Falls in Abbotsford about 1.30am today, with Water Police, officers from search and rescue, and airwing responding to calls for help.
The 46-year-old woman, from Upwey, was in the water when emergency services arrived and was carried to safety.

The body of the 29-year-old Rowville man was retrieved from the water.
The woman was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital for observation.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
