Floods in NSW Central West to top 10m in coming days

Thousands of residents in the Central West region of New South Wales are preparing for major flooding tomorrow and Wednesday.

Flood levels at Forbes are expected to reach up to 10.65m, similar to those experienced in September 2016.

The SES has advised residents to sandbag homes and businesses.

Wyangala Dam is at 104 per cent capacity, with no further rain expected in the catchment.

A severe weather warning is also in place for some parts of Victoria and New South Wales.

Wind gusts of 111km/hr were recorded at Thredbo, while damaging winds averaging 70km/hr are expected along the south-west coast of Victoria.

A cold front is also set to bring November snow to Mount Hotham in the Victorian Alps.

Around the capitals, Sydney is set for a windy, cloudy day with a top of 23C.

There is a chance for rain in Melbourne, with a cooler top of 14C forecast.

Brisbane will hit a sunny 30C, with a similar forecast for Perth at 26C.

Showers are possible for Adelaide and Hobart, which will reach 17C and 11C respectively.

Canberra will reach a cloudy 12C.

Darwin is again set to be the hottest Australian capital, with a top of 37C and a decline in humidity levels.
