Flood warnings remain in place as heavy rain recedes

Flood warnings remain in place for eastern states, though the bombardment of heavy rain is receding after the weekend.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said much of NSW would be drier today, but showers and storms were still to be expected in the state's north.

Flooding is continuing across a number of catchments, with major flooding still a concern in some areas.

Numerous warnings are in place throughout both NSW and Queensland.

The Lachlan, Macquarie, Namoi and Macintyre rivers are all spilling their banks.

Thunderstorms in NSW's north are a risk tomorrow and Wednesday.

The SES received 226 calls for help yesterday in NSW, with 13 flood rescues undertaken.

Sydney is partly cloudy today, with showers Tuesday and Wednesday and temperatures staying in the mid-20C range.

Melbourne is facing a sunny Monday, with humidity and showers later in the week.

Brisbane will receive some showers today, with more through the week as the weather warms.

Hobart is mostly sunny today, with showers due on Thursday.

Adelaide and Perth are also looking at clear skies.
