Victoria records 1488 new local cases, two deaths

Victoria has recorded 1488 new local COVID-19 cases in the last day and a further two deaths.

The results come from more than 71,000 tests, while over 36,000 vaccines were administered across the state yesterday.

There are now 11,591 active cases in Victoria.

Meanwhile, Premier Dan Andrews announced that all authorised workers must have at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine by October 15 to continue working on-site as the construction sector prepares to reopen next week.

Every construction site must have a designated fully trained COVID-19 marshal to ensure compliance with restrictions. Before reopening, operators will need to have an up-to-date vaccination register available for compliance checks.

Victoria recorded 1143 new local cases of coronavirus yesterday and three more deaths.

They include a man in his 80s from Hume, a woman in her 70s from Alphington and a man in his 70s from Moreland.

Greater Shepparton was also plunged back into lockdown yesterday.
