One person has died and seven others have been rescued after a boat capsized at Bulli on New South Wales' South Coast.
At around 10.20am this morning emergency services were called to Waniora Point in Bulli after reports a vessel had capsized.
Officers from the Wollongong Police Area Command were at the scene along with Surf Life Savers and the Marine Area Command.
Eight people were clinging to the side of the boat at the time and were rescued and taken to shore.
Rescuers performed CPR on four people until paramedics arrived.
One person was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
Inspector Norm Rees from NSW Ambulance said it was one of the most difficult jobs he has attended in his 34-year career.
"Initial reports suggested there was several people clinging to the side a boat that was quickly capsizing," Inspector Rees said.
"I want to say a huge thank you to the surf lifesavers and bystanders that risked their lives to try and save these people. They gave the them every chance of survival."
"It was a heartbreaking scene - what was meant to be a great day out on the water has turned into an absolute disaster."
