The travel barrier between Greater Sydney and regional New South Wales is finally down from today, after months of the capital being sequestered from the rest of the state.
Fully-vaccinated residents are now able to travel freely across NSW, but regional travel hotspots are already all but booked out.
Byron Bay is bracing for more than one million visitors before Christmas, with accommodation fully booked until Easter.

The removal of the border was delayed by two weeks after NSW hit 80 per cent double vaccination levels before November 18.
A disparity in jab rates between Sydney and the regions was cited as the reason, but Premier Dominic Perrottet said last week the subsequent vaccination uptake in the regions gave him confidence in lowering the barrier.
NSW residents will also be able to access a $50 accommodation voucher to boost state-wide travel, though that won't be available until next March.

The state has also eased its border with Victoria from today.
Victorian residents are no longer required to undertake 14 days of quarantine when they arrive in Sydney - as long as they are fully vaccinated.
Unvaccinated NSW residents will have access to unrestricted travel in a month, from December 1.
