Body found in search for young South Australian woman missing for weeks

A body has been found in the search for missing young South Australian woman Charlene Warrior.

Police say they are yet to formally identify the body, found on Martin Street in the town of Bute in the Northern Yorke Peninsula, but believe it to be that of the 21-year-old.

Detectives, who were called to an address on Martin Street about 6pm on Sunday, are investigating the cause of the woman's death.

Ms Warrior was last seen in Bute on September 18 and police had concerns for her welfare.

Police say the brown-eyed, black-haired woman has a tattoo on her collarbone saying "Every dark night has a brighter day" and a lower left arm tattoo reading "Family is forever".

The woman's disappearance triggered an extensive search involving the police helicopter, mounted units and volunteers from the State Emergency Service and Country Fire Service.

Police had called on Bute residents to check their properties, especially any sheds and outbuildings.
