Instead the case numbers were announced via a video livestream posted on the NSW Health Facebook page.
One of the deaths was a woman in her 50s who died at home. She tested positive to the virus post-mortem.
NSW Health reported that 87.2 percent of people aged over 16 have received their first dose, and 64 percent are fully vaccinated.
Southwestern Sydney recorded 188 cases, western Sydney 167 cases, 96 in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, 83 from southeast Sydney and 69 from Hunter New England.
Western NSW recorded 48 cases, 45 from Sydney local health district, 44 from the Nepean Blue Mountains, 20 from southern NSW, seven from far-west NSW, and seven from the Murrumbidgee.
The virus has also been detected in sewage in Hastings Point and Ballina in the Northern Rivers region, Quirindi in the North West Slopes region, and Armidale and Tamworth.
Non-elective surgery recommences
Because of declining cases of COVID-19 in the state, non-urgent day surgery will restart from Tuesday next week.
Day surgery will be held in private facilities only, for both public and private patients.
"This is to ensure we retain adequate system capacity, as well as patient, staff and public safety, for the delivery of healthcare services during the COVID-19 response," a statement from NSW Health read.
Public hospitals will continue to only perform emergency and urgent elective surgery.
Save for Dubbo Private Hospital, all the other non-elective day surgery procedures will be conducted in Sydney facilities.
Border bubble changes
Meanwhile, the New South Wales town of Kyogle will be cut out of the Queensland-NSW border bubble after it was placed into lockdown.
But Walgett will be readmitted to the bubble after its lockdown was lifted.
The changes to the border bubble were announced by Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young.
"New South Wales has removed the restrictions on Walgett. So we will similarly put them back into the border zone, allowing that small amount of movement," Dr Young said.
"So that will happen from 1am tomorrow, and New South Wales has put stay-at-home restrictions in place for Kyogle. So we will also put those higher levels of restrictions in place for there from 1am tomorrow."
Stay-at-home orders came into force at midnight for the Kyogle and Narromine council areas.
The restrictions will last until October 11, and also apply to anybody who has been in the Kyogle LGA since September 21, and the Narromine LGA since September 28.
