A Danish pastor has been jailed for 15 years for murdering his wife and then trying to dispose of her body in a manner depicted on the TV show Breaking Bad.
Lutheran pastor Thomas Gotthard struck his wife Maria on the back of the head, and then tried to dissolve her body in acid.
Inspired by an episode of Breaking Bad, he put her body in a barrel on an abandoned country estate in North Zealand.

He then drenched her body in hydrochloric acid and caustic soda.
Because the barrel was then too heavy to move, Gotthard shifted the body into smaller containers and buried them.
He then dug them up again, dismembered his wife's corpse, burned her remains and buried the bones.
He told police investigating her disappearance that she had left the house in a depressed state and left her phone and credit cards behind.
He was arrested three weeks later once hydrochloric acid and caustic soda were found in his home.

It was discovered he had searched for the terms "oil barrels" and "disappeared" on the family computer.
He murdered his wife because of marital troubles, and he was having an affair with another woman.
Gotthard was contrite when he addressed the court on Tuesday.
"I killed Maria. I ended her life, she did not deserve that fate," he said.
"I have sent my life out into the darkness where I want to stay. No one should feel sorry for me."
Gotthard and his late wife had two children together.
