Passenger trapped after truck crashes into bus in NSW Blue Mountains

Emergency service crews are working to free a passenger trapped inside a truck after it crashed into a bus in the NSW Blue Mountains, two hours west of Sydney.

The accident occurred around 7.30am when a truck crashed into the bus on the Great Western Highway at Lawson.

A passenger remains trapped inside the truck with fire and rescue crews working to free him.

The driver of the truck has been freed and taken to Nepean hospital in a serious condition.

There was one child on the bus who has been treated for hand injuries.

All westbound lanes of the Great Western Highway are closed at Lawson. One of the two eastbound lanes also closed.

Westbound drivers are being diverted to Queens Road, Badgery Crescent and San Jose Avenue.

Truck drivers have been warned the diversion is not suitable for heavy vehicles, and are instead being told to park.

Traffic is heavy in both directions, particularly westbound, with motorists being advised to expect delays.
