The widespread fog is affecting roads from Brisbane through to Ipswich.
The visibility is even worse north of the city in places such as Hervey Bay and the Wide Bay region.
The BoM said the fog was the thickest Brisbane has had so far this year.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to slow down in areas of low visibility.
