German police say several people have been killed and a number of others injured after an attack in southern city of Wuerzburg in Bavaria, south-east of Frankfurt.
Police said on Twitter they had arrested the suspect following a "major police operation", which had left parts of the city centre sealed off.
They added there is "currently no evidence of a second perpetrator" and therefore "no longer any danger" to the population.
According to local newspaper Bild, three people have been killed and six wounded in the stabbing incident. The publication also reports that police stopped the suspect with a shot to the leg.
Police of Lower Franconia confirmed they did have to use firearms on the attacker but did not provide any further details on the incident or number of lives lost.
