A police officer has been struck by a car and killed in Queensland this morning, while investigating a suspected stolen vehicle.
The senior constable – a 53-year-old man – was investigating a suspected stolen vehicle at the Bruce Highway, Burpengary, at 3am this morning when he was struck by another car and killed.
The driver fled without stopping and police are currently conducting an extensive search to uncover their identity.

Emergency respondents pronounced the officer dead at the scene.
Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the officer's death was a tragedy.
"It is with a very heavy heart we confirm the loss of one of our own, a senior constable who was working hard to protect his community," she said.

"My sincerest condolences go out to the officer's family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.
"This is devastating news for our police family and we are offering support to all officers and staff.
