A man will finally visit his dying dad in Queensland today, after a political row over the ban on him leaving hotel quarantine.
Mark Kilian and his wife Anneli will reunite with Mark's terminally ill father Frans today on the Gold Coast.
The couple was granted a travel exemption to enter Queensland after being refused multiple times despite being vaccinated against coronavirus and testing negative.
They said they were elated and grateful they could finally leave their Sydney hotel after a few days before the end of their 14-day quarantine.

They shared images of them wearing full PPE - despite testing negative for COVID-19 and being vaccinated - after chartering a plane to travel from Sydney.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she was willing to let a couple into the state if NSW Health could tell them how the pair will safely travel across the border.
"We have issued an exemption to Mark Kilian and his partner, subject to NSW finalising arrangement of safe transfer of the couple to Queensland," Queensland Health said in a statement earlier this week.
"All quarantine exemption requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, in line with current national guidelines.
"It has been a nationally agreed position that all international arrivals must complete 14 days of quarantine in their port of arrival."
