Teen hitchhiking girls cross SA border in possible COVID-19 breach

Two teenage girls hitchhiked from Victoria to South Australia overnight before hopping onto a school bus, police say.

South Australia Police stopped a school bus at Victor Harbor, south of Adelaide, this morning.

The students were issued masks and kept on the bus for more than two hours.

Police said two teenage girls missing from Victoria had hitchhiked across the border to see another girl in Goolwa.

The three of them boarded the school bus to Victor Harbor High School this morning.

They had received lifts from several drivers.

The two hitchhiking girls have been isolated and are cooperating with police.

They will be tested for COVID-19.

Any driver who believes they may have given a lift to the two girls is urged to isolate immediately and contact SA Health's COVID-19 hotline on 1800 253 787.
