Mystery $50 million lottery winner bought their ticket at Sydney shop

A mystery lottery winner who took the full $50 million Powerball prize on Thursday bought their ticket in the beachside Sydney suburb of Maroubra.

But the winner still has not come forward to claim their winnings, and may not even be aware they won.

The winning ticket was bought at CTC Eastern on Anzac Parade in Maroubra.

Maroubra is a popular beachside suburb in Sydney.

But because they were not registered to a player card, officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winner.

The Lotto officials are urging everybody who bought their ticket from this outlet to double check.

The winning numbers were 18, 30, 16, 29, 6, 33 and 35. The Powerball number was 4.

CTC Eastern's John Yu said it was the first division one ticket he had sold in the seven years he owned the shop.

"Sadly, it's not me, but I'm very happy for one of our customers," he said.

"We've been here for seven years and this is the first division one winning ticket we've ever sold."

Surfers crowd the waves on Maroubra Beach, despite it being closed by council.

The Lotto spokesperson Bronwen Spencer said officials were keen to reunite the winner with their prize.

"We're in the business of paying prizes so we can't wait to break the good news to this winner – if only they would check their ticket," she said.

"If you purchased an entry into Thursday's Powerball draw at CTC Eastern make sure you check your ticket and give us a call if you're the mystery winner we are searching for."
