Police scour bushland after violent Melbourne home invasion

Police have scoured bushland in Melbourne's west in search of evidence following an aggravated burglary at the weekend.

A man armed with a bladed weapon allegedly broke into the home at Cobblebank and attacked two people before fleeing about 12.30am on Saturday.

Two people, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital with injuries.

All parties involved in the incident were known to each other.

Police and SES crews combed through bushland last night in Melton South as part of the investigation after a 25-year-old man from Point Cook was arrested yesterday.

He has since been charged with a string of offences, including attempted murder, intentionally cause serious injury and aggravated burglary.

The man has been remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
