Full list: Victoria COVID-19 exposure sites

Victorians have been urged to get a coronavirus test "first thing" today, if they have symptoms or visited any exposure sites linked to the hotel quarantine worker who tested positive.

The 26-year-old man from Noble Park, who was working as a resident support officer as part of the Australian Open quarantine program at the Grand Hyatt, returned a positive result late on Wednesday.

The man, who is also a Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteer, attended multiple venues between Friday, January 29 and Monday, February 1 while potentially infectious, including a CFA function.

VICTORIA RESTRICTIONS REINTRODUCED: What you need to know

Daniel Andrews February 3

He is being treated as a case of community transmission, ending the state's run of 28 days virus free.

Premier Daniel Andrews called for anybody with any coronavirus symptoms to get tested immediately.

"I am asking all Victorians who have any symptoms, however mild, getting tested and not delay, not waiting an hour, not waiting until tomorrow, but getting tested today is critically important," Mr Andrews said.

"We cannot have people stampeding through those bases, it must be done slowly, meticulously.

"I don't want a testing site to become a super-spreading site."

Thousands of Victorians have swamped testing sites this morning, with some being turned away as stations were forced to close due to lengthy wait times hours long.

Dozens of exposure sites identified across Melbourne

The testing site at Chadstone Golfers Drive has been "temporarily suspended" due to high demand and a two-hour wait, with cars being turned around.

The Wantirna Trash and Treasure Market testing site has also closed.

Victoria's testing commander Jeroen Weimar said additional lanes and capacity had been opened across 13 sites.

An additional four or five sites will also be set up today, with a new station also open at Noble Park.

"We are working on sites at Monash Health and Clayton at Brighton, and in CBD. We're exploring one or two other sites in bayside," Mr Weimar said.

"This is all about creating the capacity, not only for the people who are in that close contact field, but for any Victorian who at this point feels that - any concerns they may have been in contact with this individual or anybody who is displaying symptoms."

Anyone who visited the following exposure sites during these times must immediately isolate, get a coronavirus test, and remain isolated for 14 days.
